Who We Are
Two Texas Friends Jack Swain and Devereux Dunlap came out of WW1 in 1918/19 and opened up the very first Dunlap-Swain in July of 1919 at the corner of Young and Akard. In 1926 moved to Harwood and Federal, and in 1930 a Parking garage at Pacific and Harwood. In 1930 Firestone tried to convince Jack And Dev to sell out, saying they could never survive against the big chain organizations. But they changed to selling Goodyear and remained independent. In 1939 (after 20 years) Dunlap-Swain was still Run and Managed by Jack and Devereux. Growing in the 1970's to over 15 locations in the Immediate Dallas area. Dunlap-Swain in 2024 (105 years of service) still operates 3 locations in Dallas,Texas It is still owned and operated by the Swain family.
